These homeowners were seeking a major change for these key spaces; their Ensuite and their Kitchen. As their home was getting older, we transformed the functionality and aesthetics to change the lives of this happy family.
THE CONCEPT
Creating an easily maintained, functional space was very important for these busy bees. It was also important to modernize the aesthetic of the home in both the Kitchen and the Ensuite in a timeless way. In the Kitchen, a large built-in pantry was removed to provide more practical storage space. In the Ensuite, an unused corner tub was removed to add a more desirable freestanding tub, while maintaining a modern aesthetic.
THE PLAN
To create a more functional and open space, it was important to remove elements that were an obstruction. A large island with plenty of storage and seating solutions allows extra furniture to be removed. It also replaces any storage that was lost in the removal of the pantry. These homeowners do a lot of cooking, so having space to put all their small appliances and utensils was a must. The aesthetics lends itself to a neutral palette paired with a calming blue.
THE BEFORE
The Kitchen before was dark and dated…The oddly shaped island, dark cabinets, and misconfigured space creates a kitchen that feels much smaller and closed off than it really is..
THE DESIGN SELECTIONS
Small changes make a big impact. We aimed to create a transitional and clean looking kitchen for these homeowners by combining neutral tones with a pop of blue as an accent color. Black finishes were selected for their elegance and contrast, resulting in a functional and stylish space that feels both modern and timeless.
THE FINALE
In conclusion, the transformation of the kitchen and ensuite has significantly enhanced both the functionality and aesthetic of this family’s home. By prioritizing practical design choices and a cohesive color palette, we created inviting spaces that meet the needs of their busy lifestyle while reflecting a modern, timeless elegance.
